Jack and Jill |
Hay una rima infantil que me recuerda al All Fool's Day y que alguna amiga me enseñó en Trinidad y la comenzaba agregándole "In April the 1st., /All Fool´s Day...." Ahora la transcribo en su versión del siglo XVIII:
Jack and Jill went up the hill
To fetch a pail of water.
Jack fell down and broke his crown,
And Jill came tumbling after.
Con el tiempo, se le han ido agregando otras estrofas; como éstas del siglo XIX:
Up Jack got, and home did trot,
As fast as he could caper;
To old Dame Dob, who patched his nob
With vinegar and brown paper.
como alternativa:
Up Jack got and home did trot,
As fast as he could caper;
And went to bed and bound his head
With vinegar and brown paper.
Y esta:
Then Jill came in, and she did grin,
To see Jack's paper plaster;
Her mother whipt her, across her knee,
For laughing at Jack's disaster.
O con una variación:
When Jill came in how she did grin
To see Jack's paper plaster;
Mother vexed did whip her next
For causing Jack's disaster.
